The Very Best Root Beer possesses four characteristics:

1. A distinctive woody Flavor &endash; it was originally made from Sassafras Root! The newer Root Beers try to capture the old time flavor that "Goes right up one's nose!"

2. A smooth, creamy &endash; not watery Texture

3. A subtle mellow Aftertaste &endash; not bitter, not sugary

4. Plenty of Carbonation that produces a good sized "Head" of creamy foam when poured into a glass.
