Part A - Prelab Section (80 pts)
1. (10pts) What is the study subject AND why is this the study subject?
2. (10pts) Identify the manipulated Variable AND why is this the manipulated variable
3. (10pts) Describe the responding Variable AND tell why this is the responding variable.
4. (10pts) Identify which trial(s) are the control(s). Tell why these are the control(s).
5. (10pts) Identify which trial(s) are experimental trials. Tell why this is these are the experimental trials.
6. (10pts) Use your QPH Help Sheet and create a properly formatted scientific question for this experiment. (SS, MV, & RV!)
7. (10pts) Create a properly formatted prediction for this question. (IF, Then compared to.)
8. (10pts) Develop a properly formatted hypothesis for this lab. (includes:Reasons WHY, SS, MV, RV)
Part B &endash; Data Section (60 pts)
9. (30 pts) Create and attach a CQC Data Table 1: Ionic Test Results
10. (30 pts) Create and attach a CQC Bar Graph 1 Ionic Test Results
Part C - Analysis Section (80 pts)
11. (20 pt) Describe 2 controlled variables and tell why these were controlled (not MV or RV!).
12. (20 pt) Specifically 2 likely sources of error, name each properly, (do not use recording or calculation error) AND tell how each source could have affected the outcome. (not MV or RV!)
13. (20 pt) Describe 1 potential uncontrolled variable that could have affected the experiment's outcome AND tell how this variable would affect the data. (do not use recording or calculation error)
14. (20 pt) Look at the data from the experiment. For each experimental type (Juices etc) of solution, tell if there is a IONIC trend / pattern for each category and why you think this might be so.
Part D - Conclusion and Application Section (110 pt)
15. Develop and Write a Conclusion for this experiment. (85 pts)
a. Question (5 pt): Tell the Question being investigatedb. Hypothesis (5 pt) - State The Hypothesis
c. Tell if the Hypothesis was Accepted or Rejected (5 pt).
d. Show and explain data to support your statement in (c) above (50 pt)
i. Compare each type of solution to each other and to the control.ii. Be sure to explain what the data (numbers) actually means so the reader will understand what you are writing about.
iii. Create a descriptive summary of the things you learned in this experiment. Use a minimum of 5 really good sentences.
e. Reliability (10 pt) Tell how to improve the reliability of this experiment.
f. Validity (10 pt) Using all these different samples improved the validity of the experiment. Completely explain why this is so.
18. Application Question: (25 pt - with possible EC for great work)
If you were actively engaged in sports on a hot sunny day, which would be the best choice(s) of drinks of those tested? Completely explain why you chose this/these drinks. (You may want to do some research on the internet before you try to answer this question.) 5 sentences minimum.
