The Sound

Puget Sound is a wonderfully diverse community blessed with a multitude of plants, animals, and other species. Because of this, the Sound has attracted a huge population of people that enjoy living near to nature. However the collision of our burgeoning population with nature has not always been beneficial to the native creatures, or to humans. Thus it is important that we learn about our environment and how to exist here with the least impact on the native species possible. In this unit you will explore many different facets of the Sound, including the air, water, shelter, and the space around us.

To help us in our explorations we will us The Sound CD ROM, which contains a wonderful collection of interesting activities about the Sound. (Can be obtained from Washington Sea Grant publications) In addition, we usually have speakers/activities about Hazardous Waste, Biosphere, and Consumption.
