Assignment: Track and Document where your family gets their drinking water.

IN YOUR OWN WORDS, track the travels of a water drop from its source on earth all the way to your kitchen faucet.

1. Hint! First ask your parents who they pay for the water and what county you live in.

2. Websites that can help you!

a. Alderwood Water District - Check out the "Our Water tab" on top for brief background info. Then proceed to the City of Everett "Virtual tour" for more complete information.

b. City of Everett Go to their great "Virtual Tour".

Note that you'll have to continue to track the water to your faucet once it leaves Everett.

c. Cross Valley Water District: If the CVWD provides your water call with your address and ask the folks there for information. The Office is open 8:30-5:00pm, Telephone:360.668.6766 or 425.485.8461 . Please call well before your project due date, so the folks at Cross Valley don't have a bunch of calls on the same afternoon.

d. Apartment: If you live in an apartment, ask the Office staff who provides the water to your apartment (who they pay the water bill to!).

e. Well: Do you have your own personal well? In that case, take a photo of the pump, then track the water through each piece of equipment to your faucet.

f. Bothell: If you actually pay your water bill to the City of Bothell go to City of Seattle

g. Woodinville: If you actually pay your water bill to Woodinville Water District go here . Next scroll down to "District History and read the history for preliminary information on the system.

Then go to Tolt River Reservoir and track the water though the system to your faucet.

h. Live South of I 90?: Take a tour of the Cedar River Reservoir...to complete the job you'll also need the watershed map and see the overall Regional Water System.

3. Once you know who provides your water, be a detective and track the flow from where it comes from step by step through the system. Try the provider's website and any other places where the water flows. Don't rely on one source!!! If this doesn't help, call the water provider on the telephone (be sure to get their name for a reference).

4. Write the results in order from the source to your home. Do not skip any steps!

5. Extra Credit - EC will be awarded to students providing a map, drawing or a sequential set of photos of their water system… Google, Yahoo etc anyone?

YOU MUST USE THIS FORMAT:
